Krzysztof Jung

On the Politics of Delicacy, curated by Anke Kempkes

Capitian Petzel, Berlin, 24.01.2020 - 22.02.2020

Krzysztof Jung (1951-1998) is primarily recognised as a creator of “plastic theatre”. His 1970s and 1980s photographs and self-portraits (taken also as a preparatory process for his numerous drawings) are exhibited independently from the rest of his practice for the first time. His works and carefully built self-image were influenced by two centres of Polish counterculture, placed on opposite edges: Warsaw’s Galeria Repassage (semi-private space exhibiting Polish neo-avant-garde artists), and Kultura, the most influential émigré journal co-run in Maisons-Laffitte next to Paris by Jung's admired painter Józef Czapski. In his aestheticised and carefully staged photographs, Krzysztof Jung affirmed non-heteronormative nude male body and portrayed masculine image alternative to dissidents’ machismo and countercultural to the official image represented by Communist dignitaries.

Art and Business Connected for Perfecting the New World

(Un)common Ground is the first art branding conference in the world. The event was born from the conviction, supported by experience, that art opens almost unlimited possibilities for brands in terms of communication, strategy, aesthetics, design or development. Therefore, we have created a space to discuss the future of the relationship between art and business.
